Seiko Prospex 'Shogun' Automatic Black Dial Silver Titanium Bracelet Men's Watch SPB189J1 First released in 2008 exclusively in the Japanese market, this diver's watch is now available globally in Seiko's 2020 Prospex collection. Nicknamed 'Shogun' by fans, meaning Japanese 'Commander-in-chief,' because of its strong looks. Its design echoes elements similar to the armour and helmet worn by a Shogun including triangular notches for the knurling of the rotating bezel and pointed markers on the bezel itself. However, completely at odds with its weighty appearance, this is a lighter model made in titanium - ideal for everyday wear. This timepiece has a high visibility dial layout and a high power reserve of 70 hours with calibre 6R35. The Seiko SPB189J1 has a sturdy titanium case and with a handsome unidirectional bezel and a thickness of 13mm, this watch can go into the medium-sized category. The curved lugs bring a touch of panache to what is otherwise a tough-looking case. The Seiko SPB189J1 is known as the Shogun due to its extremely tough nature, something provided by a titanium case and bezel. The screw-down crown at three oclock is oversized and adds to the sporty image of this watch. The dial is protected by curved sapphire crystal, which also boosts the solidity of the Seiko SPB189J1. The Dial: With a black dial, the Seiko SPB189J1definitely has an athletic feel to it. This is heightened by the presence of oversized, luminescent indices, which are coated with Lumibrite along with the flamboyant indexes. The date window at three oclock brings some added depth to the dial of the Seiko SPB189J1. There is an anti-reflective material on the dial to make for full legibility in all conditions. The Bracelet: The stainless steel bracelet of the Seiko SPB189J1 lends the watch a sporty yet luxurious image. The Functions: Using an automatic 6R35 caliber, the Seiko SPB189J1 benefits from over a century of Japanese watchmaking expertise. The watch is water-resistant to 200 meters and has a seventy-hour power reserve, adding to its sporting credentials.
