Seiko Prospex 1968 Re-Creation Automatic Blue Dial Silver Steel Bracelet Men's Watch SPB187J1 This timepiece is one of a collection of new interpretations of Seiko's diving heritage for 2020. This specific watch is inspired by the Seiko 1968 Divers 300m watch which was the highest of world standards hi beat calibre and was used for the first climb from Japan to Mount Everest. The 2020 version has been modernised from the original version with a smaller case size - from 44mm to 42mm, high visibility dial layout and increased power reserve to 70 hours with calibre 6R35. Seiko Prospex watches are designed for sports lovers and adventure seekers in the water, in the sky or on land. Since launching Japans first divers watch in 1965, Seikos innovative watchmaking has changed global dive watch standards. The Case: The Seiko SPB187J1 is part of the Seiko Prospex line, a unique collection of sports watches reflecting the brands many years of expertise. The Seiko SPB187J1 has a sturdy stainless steel case with a super-hard coating and a handsome unidirectional bezel. With a thickness of 13mm, this watch can go into the medium-sized category. The curved lugs bring a touch of panache to what is otherwise a tough-looking case. The screw-down crown at three oclock is oversized and adds to the sporty image of this watch. The dial is protected by curved sapphire crystal, which also boosts the solidity of the Seiko SPB187J1. The Dial: With a sapphire blue dial, the Seiko SPB187J1 definitely has an athletic feel to it. This is heightened by the presence of oversized, luminescent indices, which are coated with Lumibrite along with the flamboyant indexes.
