Seiko Prospex 1970 Diver's Recreation Automatic Men's Watch SPB151J1 The Case: The case of the Seiko Prospex Men's Watch SPB151J1 measures in at 42.7mm in width, which is somewhat slimmer than the original model which measured at 44mm. The reduction of size of this model makes it feel more authentic and in line with the sizing trends in the mid-seventies. The original model was made famous by the unique asymmetrical tonneau style case and crown positioned in at 4 oclock. The brushed stainless steel has been finished with super hard coating, which provides the watch with unparalleled durability and scratch resistance. A black unidirectional bezel sits a top of the case, the knurled edges allow the wearer to easily rotate it. The sapphire crystal glass offers both durability and legibility, as it has an anti-reflective coating. On the flip side, there is a screw down case back which allows for greater protection against water. The Dial: The minimalistic black dial is simple yet effective. This model has been modernised from the original with a high visibility dial layout. Seikos peerless level of craftsmanship is present through the applied bold markers that stand out against the black dial due to their polished finish, which glistens playfully in the light. Each marker has been filled with Lumibrite, which allows for readability in areas of low light. The beveled baton-shaped hands are filled with the same luminous material for the majority of their length, and are ever-so-slightly pointed at the tip. The distinctive traffic light style second hand that is present is also present on the original model. Also a date window replaces the 3 oclock marker and the Seiko logo sits proudly beneath the 12 oclock marker. The Strap: The brushed stainless steel oyster style bracelet bestows the watch with a robust feel, that is sure to provide longevity and reliability. It features an easy to use three-fold clasp with secure lock and a push button release with an extender. The Seiko logo is present on the clasp too. The Functions: 6R35 caliber automatic movement powers this timepiece, it also offers hacking and hand winding. Hacking is a function where the second hand stops once the crown is pulled out, allowing for precise timing once the crown is pushed in. The movement allows for a hand winding feature which by turning the crown, gives power to the watch. This 24 jewel movement offers an astounding 70 hour power reserve. It also has as an accuracy of +25 to -15 seconds per day. Also, it has a water resistance of 200 metres.
